Designing online computer games

This term, 3/4E have also been designing online computer games using Scratch http://scratch.mit.edu/

Scratch is a programming language that makes it easy to create your own interactive stories, animations, games, music, and art — and share your creations on the web.

As young people create and share Scratch projects, they learn important mathematical and computational ideas, while also learning to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively.

3/4E students were set the task of creating a game for their KD buddies that would be simple to play and have a Bee-bot theme. Some of the games are modeled from pong, pacman and snakes and ladders games. Some of them are completely original. Students who learnt the game quickly were also very helpful in teaching others in the class to use Scratch. Everyone gave each other feedback and the games were modified and reviewed continously. At our Bee-bot party, we will be showing the KD buddies how to play our games. Can’t wait!
